MACOSH implements a number of culturally and trauma informed programs, activities, and events, focused on building collaborative community and healthy interpersonal relationships, connecting crime victims and communities to resources, and empowering communities to end domestic violence. This is carried out through the following programs and initiatives below.

Doing What’s Needed

Designed to raise awareness and address domestic violence and crime victims in a way that relates to the African American Community. These programs and activities include:

  • Expressive Dance

  • Culinary Arts

  • Creative Writing

Youth Empowerment Leadership Program

Making a Difference

YELP focuses on the cultural strength and holistic wellness of teens. YELP occurs through the following programming and activities:

  • Entrepreneurial & leadership workshop

  • Healthy relationship forums

  • Career planning & course forecasting activities

  • Community service activities

Tackling the Issue

Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve studying new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and using that information to measure shifts and changes from our baseline measurements.
